FIRST SOLO!!

Mal Zackery's logbook entry for April 30th, 2009 was one you can make only once in a lifetime. It was his first solo flight as Pilot In Command. When instructor Matt Hansen got out of the Sky Arrow after their arrival at the Cartersville, GA airport, Mal was on his own for the  first time. Six solo landings later, the two returned to the Cobb County-McCollum Field airport to celebrate Mal's success. Watch for more news on Mal soon.

 

JEREMY MADDOX BECOMES TENTH SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT TO EARN PILOT CERTIFICATE

When Jeremy Maddox passed his checkride on Thursday, March 5th, 2009 it was one year from the day when he mailed his application for an Able Flight Scholarship. And when Designated Pilot Examiner Ben Methvin, Jr. signed the required documents, the Georgia resident became Able Flight's tenth scholarship winner to earn a pilot certificate.

 

TOUR PILOTS ARRIVED MONDAY MORNING IN AEROSHELL SQUARE!!

After a week of flying from Atlanta to Knoxville, Dayton, Indianapolis, Champaign, Illinois and Waukesha, Wisconsin, pilots Brad Jones and Sean O’Donnell landed Monday morning July 28th, 2008 in Oshkosh, their final stop. They taxiied into AeroShell Square a few minutes ahead of their scheduled 9:30AM arrival on the opening day of EAA AirVenture. The two Able Flight scholarship winners use wheelchairs as the result of spinal cord injuries, and completed a 1000-mile, seven-city tour flying specially-adapted Sky Arrow 600 Light Sport Aircraft.

 

BRAD JONES FIRST SCHOLARSHIP WINNER TO EARN LICENSE!

Marietta, GA (June 27, 2007)

 Only a few days after the one-year anniversary of the accident that left him paralyzed, Brad Jones has earned his Sport Pilot license. By doing so, he has become the first Able Flight Scholarship winner to complete his training and earn a pilot’s certificate. After an intensive month-long training course at Hansen Air Group at Cobb County-McCollum Field in Kennesaw, Georgia, Brad’s flight instructors, Mitch Hansen and Mike Davidson recommended him for his FAA checkride and he passed with flying colors. Making the day even more special for Brad was the presence of his parents Debra and George Jones of Ty Ty, Georgia, who were there to celebrate their son’s achievement.
